SA warned of another intense cold front

SANDTON - Gauteng residents are set to be hit with another cold front as winter prepares to take its leave.

This is according to a warning issued by the South African Weather Service. According to information released by the service, the cold front has already hit the southern part of the country on 26 August before moving into the western parts on 27 August, resulting in cold and windy conditions over the western parts of the Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces.

The service also warned of bouts of snowfall in the Western Cape on 28 August before the cold front moves into the interior on 29 August, with temperatures in Gauteng and Mpumalanga expected to initially be mild on the day, but likely to drop significantly towards the evening as the cold air arrives over these provinces later.

“On Saturday, 30 August, the bulk of the country is expected to remain cold and dry, with the exception of a small chance of morning drizzle expected along the escarpment of Mpumalanga and Limpopo,” the service cautioned.

Temperatures are expected to improve from 30 August onwards across the country.

The service said it would continue monitoring the weather for any changes and will issue updates. For more information, visit www.weathersa.co.za
