Bryanston pupil makes a splash

BRYANSTON – Rogan Shepard, a Grade 8 pupil of Bryanston High School, represented the school well following recent impressive performances at several swimming competitions across South Africa.

Shepard kicked off his winning streak by placing first in both the 100m breaststroke race and the 200m individual medley race in the Arena Interclub Invitational Short Course Gala in Sunninghill.

Shepard then repeated his success at the Central Gauteng Aquatics Short Course Winter Gala, where he once again placed first in the 200m individual medley race.

He was then off to Durban for the KwaZulu-Natal Speedo Prestige Gala at Kings Park, where he received Level 3 swimming times for the 400m individual medley as well as the 100m and 200m butterfly events.

Mike Slater, Shepard’s grade controller, expressed pride on the spectacular achievements by the 14-year-old pupil.

“Our huge admiration and respect go to Rogan, and of course to his parents and coaches who made all of this possible,” he said.
