Hyde Park pupils swing to win

HYDE PARK - Hyde Park High School was delighted after three of its pupils competed in the District Trials for table tennis at Queens High School.

Grade 8 pupil David Munien, along with Grade 9 pupils Chao-Hong Peng and Jonathan Whitson, competed against 21 pupils from five different high schools to compete for a position in the local District 9 team.

Spokesperson for the school, Avril Wright said, “David Munien… made it through to the finals and was ranked in eighth position out of 21 pupils. Peng… competed in the quarterfinals and was ranked fourth. Whitson… competed in the quarterfinals and was ranked third.

“Both Peng and Whitson made the team and will represent Hyde Park in the District 9 team along with three other pupils from Queens High School.”

Wright said their pupils did exceptionally well considering that they were in only in Grade 8 and 9 and played against senior pupils in the U18 age division.
