Motsepe Foundation announces second annual National Day of Prayer for SA

SANDTON – The Motsepe Foundation announced the second annual National Day of Prayer for South Africans at the FNB Stadium.

The Motsepe Foundation announced the second annual National Day of Prayer for all South Africans in Sandton.

At a press conference for the event, Patrice Motsepe and his wife Precious Moloi-Motsepe announced that 33 religious and faith-based organisations would participate in the prayer day to pray for a variety of issues that will focus on the improvement of the country.

Patrice Motsepe speaks about why he believes the day of prayer is so important.

The prayer day, which will take place on 25 November, will see the faith-based organisations, as well as traditional leaders, government, business leaders, members of political parties and community-based organisations, gather together for a day of prayer.

Moloi-Motsepe said that as the Motsepe Foundation, they believe the day is a perfect opportunity for people from a variety of different backgrounds to gather together and unite in prayer.

Motsepe expressed his deep gratitude to all the religious organisations who had gathered at the press conference to share why they believe the prayer gathering will be so beneficial. “We know that when we all get together, when we all face the challenges that confront us, we will find solutions and we will succeed.”

Some of the things the various groups will pray for include the unity of South Africa, an end to poverty, corruption and crime as well as the creation of jobs and opportunities.

Archbishop Thabo Makgoba thanks the Motsepe for hosting the day of prayer which will take place on 2 November.

Frank Chikane, speaking on behalf of South African Council of Churches, said that they are engaged in a major operation to bring South Africans together to deal with many issues that South Africans experience and the prayer gathering will help contribute to further engagement.

Pauline Naidoo from the South African Hindu Maha Sabha said, “It is this day of prayer that has brought all us, cultural leaders, together, which I don’t think has been possible before.”

She added that as Hindu people celebrate Diwali which symbolises a victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance, the prayer gathering would provide the perfect opportunity for people of all religions to get together and pray to achieve those goals.
