Help out the community – Acts of kindness for Alex residents
SANDTON – Alexandra residents are in need of several essential items.
More than 500 shacks have been destroyed and over 2 000 people have been displaced following a devasting fire that broke out in Alexandra last week.
The situation is dreadful as residents – who lost all their belongings – are desperately trying to rebuild their homes before the worst of the rains hit.
There is a massive need for food and baby formula, according to emergency services and humanitarian organisations working on the ground.
Cell C, through its ongoing Acts of Kindness campaign, has purchased an array of essential items including food, hygiene items, nappies and blankets.
Suzette van der Merwe, managing executive of Cell C CSI said, “These people have been left with nothing. We wanted to help immediately in some small way. We also encourage our own staff and members of the public to drop off food and clothes at the Alex and Sandton fire stations.”
