Five admirable people the Sandton Chronicle team met this year

Throughout the year the Sandton Chronicle team has had the opportunity to meet and interview some wonderful people who have had an impact on the Sandton community. We rounded up a list of five impressive people we met this year.

1. Obed Mohlala

Inspector Obed Mohlala has been part of the SPCA since 1982 and has been helping them since he was a child. Mohlala’s dedication and commitment to helping animals in the community is admirable and although he is nearing retirement, he plans to continue helping animals in need.

2. Brandon Kynoch

Brandon Kynoch is a young St Stithians College learner who took the app world by storm with his two top-ranked games in the Apple Store. Kynoch did not let his school studies get in the way of his passion and developed three games during his free time and school holidays.

3. Megan Botha

Megan Botha created the non-profit organisation Beanies for Beings to encourage people to knit beanies for young babies. Since then Botha has branched out and focuses on helping anyone in need.

4. Ramona Kasavan

Ramona Kasavan started Mimi Women to create business opportunities for young women from impoverished backgrounds while also serving an important need in the community. Kasavan’s Mimi Women enables young women to sell affordable sanitary pads and create a business for themselves.

5. Hugh Dubule

Sandton firefighter Hugh Dubule had a career spanning three decades before he decided to hang up his helmet. Dubule served as a firefighter for 34 years and dedicated his life to assisting others in need.
