A gift that will last your mom a lifetime

SANDTON – What says I love you more to your mom than a precious piece of art?

The search is on for the best gifts for mothers and grandmothers at The Antiques Fair at Nelson Mandela Square on 5 May.

Instead of the everyday flowers and scented candles, give your mom a gift she can cherish forever, which will appreciate in value over time. The fair will see 40 antique dealers exhibiting their best range of antiques such as vases, pottery and pendants, including renowned Moorcroft pottery.

Moorcroft is one of the world’s oldest art potteries and dates back to 1897 when William Moorcroft developed his distinctive decorating tube lining technique in Stoke-on-Trent, England.

South Africans have been supporters of Moorcroft’s floral designs for many years. Some stunning vases from the 1930s were decorated with the king protea and African lily designs. More recently the artists of the art potteries design studio focused their attention on the country’s flowers, birds and animals to create a second South African collection which is currently enjoying much success with collectors around the world.
