DA announces its candidate for Joburg mayor
JOBURG – The DA announces its candidate to succeed Herman Mashaba as the executive mayor of the City of Joburg.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is proud to announce Funzela Ngobeni as the DA candidate for the position of Executive Mayor of the DA-led City of Johannesburg as it prepares for the 2021 municipal elections.
Councillor Ngobeni has been serving as MMC for Finance since January last year, is the leader of Executive Business in the Council and has been a long-serving councillor prior to that.
According to the DA, the party has been through a rigorous selection process before appointing him and is confident that, should he be elected as the executive mayor of the DA-led City of Johannesburg on 28 November, he will continue the good work done by outgoing mayor Herman Mashaba by streamlining services in order to improve the lives of all residents.
The DA said they congratulate Funzela on his election, they trust that he will be elected to serve the people of Johannesburg as executive mayor and they commit their support to him unconditionally in the pursuit of creating one South Africa for all.
