Sandton’s woman of wonder honoured

SANDTON – Internationally acclaimed awards evening, aimed at highlighting the work of extraordinary women who have gone above and beyond, took place at the Imperial Wanders in Illovo on 28 November.

The 6th annual Panache Women in Wonder (Wow) Awards honours Sandton’s very own Seema Naidoo.

Internationally acclaimed awards evening, aimed at highlighting the work of extraordinary women who have gone above and beyond, took place at the Imperial Wanders in Illovo on 28 November.

Naidoo is the founder of the Rivonia-based Hope To Heal Foundation, an non-profit organisation which is aimed at supporting women and children who have been affected by violence and abuse and advocating for better quality, compassionate, and non-judgmental services for victims of domestic violence and child abuse.

According to Naidoo not only is this award a prestigious honour but it makes all of the hard work and late nights worth it. “It is a great honour and privilege for me to be the recipient of the Panache Women of Wonder 6th Annual Award. I am extremely gratified for this award.”

Within the last year, Naidoo’s journey in assisting victims of abuse has led her to the world of human trafficking, what she calls modern day slavery.

“When I started my journey to serve the public I had no idea it will lead me to be working with the most heinous organised crime in the world, human trafficking. So many more people are affected by human trafficking than we realise,” she noted.

During this holiday season the foundation continues to encourage the community to join the fight against abuse and human trafficking. “We need an army of support to bring an end to modern day slavery but while we are fighting to end human trafficking, victims and survivors need your support.”
