Private security officers go the extra mile
GALLO MANOR – According to Fidelity ADT community development manager Aslam Munsur, community criminals often prey on elderly members of society because they are seen as ‘vulnerable soft target’.
A private security company has gone the extra mile for an elderly Sandton resident.
Officers from Fidelity ADT went beyond their call of duty to help reassure a Gallo Manor resident of her safety.
In a recent incident recalled in a press release by the company, the resident heard noises in her yard but could not identify the origin. She later woke up and noticed that the storeroom door was open and phoned Fidelity ADT.
“On arrival, Fidelity ADT reaction officers checked the whole premises and found a bicycle along the precast. An unknown number of suspects had gained access into the premises by jumping over the precast wall along Bowling Avenue and proceeded onto the main house where they climbed on the roof, removed tiles and gained access into the storeroom. The suspects had already fled the scene.”

In addition, the reaction officers assisted with cutting the grass and clearing the foliage in the garden. “Overgrown foliage is an absolute no-no and should always be kept trimmed back so your property is clearly visible,” he said.
Munsur added that the private security firm also decided to upgrade the resident’s security system at no extra charge. “Their safety should be a priority and we decided unilaterally to step in and support our elderly customer,” he concluded.
