Brescia equestrian sisters excel

BRYANSTON – The equestrian sisters recently gave a stellar performance at the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) qualifiers.

Brescia House School learners Tanith and Kendra Wise continue to out-perform on the field.

The equestrian sisters recently gave a stellar performance at the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) qualifiers.

At just 16 years old, Tanith came in 8th place for the showjumping and 9th place for equitation while 14-year-old Kendra finished in 5th place for the showjumping (A2), 8th for the showjumping (competition) and 6th for equitation.

Tanith was immensely proud of herself and her horse Puff’s performance, especially because their relationship was fairly new.

“The last Sanesa competition was a great learning experience for me as every time we compete together, I learn what I need to do with him [Puff]in order to get the best out of him.

“I was happy with my clear rounds and with my equitation test scores; it was great to see how we are improving together.”

Kendra added that she too was happy to see that her dedication and hard work with her horse Turkey prove to be worth it.

Following the results at the qualifiers, Kendra was also selected for the regional equestrian team who are set to compete in the Gauteng finals this month.

“Qualifying means that all our hard work has paid off and that we have another opportunity to improve and learn from,” said Kendra.

Tanith added that both she and her sister began riding at a young and they have not looked back since. “I love the thrill you get while competing and the trust between you and your horse. It is such an amazing feeling to be in sync with your horse and trust them completely.”

“It is as if you can read each other’s minds and it’s such an incredible feeling, especially when you feel all the work you put in paying off,” said Tanith.
