Howl’oween in the park in Morningside
MORNINGSIDE MANOR – According to Alex Barbosa of Friends of Sandspruit, residents from across the community joined in on the outdoor fun, enjoying their leisure walk along the Sandspruit River.
The Friends of Sandspruit and Sandton SPCA recently partnered up for a day of fright and fundraising.
The community organisations hosted a Howl’oween Dog Walk on October 31 in Ernest Ullmann Park in Morningside Manor.
According to Alex Barbosa of Friends of Sandspruit, residents from across the community joined in on the outdoor fun, enjoying their leisure walk along the Sandspruit River.
“Some of the dogs were dressed up for Howl’oween and some were just so excited to be out and about. We spotted a skeleton, a bat dog, a pink angel wing Frenchie and many more – even the rottweiler police were there,” said Barbosa.
There were also several market and food stalls at the end of the 2.5km walk.
Sandton SPCA’s Wilna Lamb added that both organisations thoroughly enjoyed interacting with members of the community.
“[It was] a fun morning raising awareness about the role both organisations play in our community,” she said.
The Friends of Sandpruit is a small non-profit organisation that has been looking after the Sandspruit River for almost 14 years.
Sandton SPCA, based in Marlboro, is a non-profit organisation supporting local communities with animal welfare.
