Saints partners for education

BRYANSTON – According to Dr Adrienne Watson, head of education research and innovation at St Stithians, there is power in partnerships like these.

St Stithians College has solidified its partnership with the University of Witswatersrand’s School of Education for research in education.

Representatives from the school and university recently signed a memorandum to mark approximately five years of imagination and action by multiple stakeholders.

According to Dr Adrienne Watson, head of education research and innovation at St Stithians College, there is power in partnerships like these in improving education for the community as a whole.

“It is our intention that, over time, our collaboration with Wits can make a modest yet impactful contribution to South African research in education, not only for the benefit of our immediate community but we intend for all South African teachers and learners.”

With the combined research expertise and experience of Wits and the unique eight-school model at St Stithians, Watson believes that this partnership will share wisdom and academic accuracy from Africa. “The time is past for polarisation and closed criticism between so-called elite schools and the state. It is time to come together, expand our spaces of possibility, and work together to solve the problems still ruining the prospects of so many of our country’s young people,” said Watson.
