Brescia House School makes a splash at National Aquatics Festival

BRYANSTON – Under the leadership of their coach Fiorella Barberini, the diving girls took their positions at the festival on February 11, exhibiting all the hard work they put in this season.

The diving team at Brescia House School recently gave it their all at the National Aquatics Festival in Durban.

Under the leadership of their coach Fiorella Barberini, the diving girls took their positions at the festival on February 11, exhibiting all the hard work they put in this season.

According to Brescia House’s head of marketing and admission Helga Bishop, in order to shine at the sport of diving, one needs to be truly dedicated.

“The Brescia House School girls have what it takes to excel at this sport. This is made obvious by the hours of training they put in whenever required, which includes early morning training as well as late afternoons.”

Coach Barberini is also no stranger to the competitive world, not only is she Fina (Fédération Internationale de Natation) qualified but she previously represented South Africa at the Junior World Championships in Russia.

In the last pre-Covid-19 inter-schools competition in 2019, Barberini and the diving girls placed an overall second in both the A and B section. This was a phenomenal result for young athletes that were only given six weeks a year of practice.

“[The team’s]dedication to the sport is so strong, that they readily spent weekends and holidays training, especially in the weeks leading up to big competitions.

“Fiorella and the diving girls of Brescia House School continue to prove that with enough talent, practice and dedication, you can be that special kind of someone,” said Bishop.
