Coach Mocks of Warriors FC ensures a healthy lifestyle for the kids
Coach Mocks hopes to see more of his developed players on television once he retires
True passion knows no boundaries, one person in particular who is very passionate about something is Mocks Maseko who is the U19 coach for Warriors FC situated in Parkmore.
Maseko, better known as Mocks to his players and to the community of Parkmore and Alexandra, has been playing soccer for as long as he can remember. His story begins when he started primary school.
“I was at boarding school and at that time in order to make friends you had to be on the pitch or court and that is what I did. I played all kinds of sports, basketball, cricket, rugby and soccer. Discovering soccer was a very pivotal moment in my life, that is when I found my first love,” said Maseko.
Born and raised in Alexandra, Mocks would later leave his first love after completing high school to venture out into the real world. He started working at OR Tambo International Airport but deep down he knew what he wanted in life.

“Playing football on weekends and working during the week was tiring and I couldn’t keep up with it. So after three years of working at the airport, I decided to make a tough decision. I ended up going back to the arms of my love, soccer. I got the majority of children in Alexandra who were leaning towards the life of crime to join my soccer team [Real Madrid] and it helped them with a lot of things.
“I got discovered by the founder of Warriors FC Moïra Valkin and Herold Matodzi who happens to be the head coach of the team.”
Eight years later after agreeing to coach the U19 division of Warriors FC, Mocks still shares his love of Alexandra by recruiting young passionate players to play for Warriors FC.
The coach concluded that once he retired, he would love to see more of his developed players play in professional teams.
