Comedy break session with stars and chocolate
Nestlé Kit Kat and local comedians launch a new campaign to remind the public that breaks are essential at the Theatre on the Square on May 17.
The presence of the pandemic has proven to have impacted the world in a negative light to the point where individuals no longer enjoy the small things, such as a good laugh.

Famous Swiss chocolate subsidiary brand, Nestlé KitKat partnered up with three local talented comedians in their latest campaign to revive the appreciation of stand-up comedy.

The ‘What a difference a break makes’ campaign organised by the KitKat team invited guests to a day filled with jokes, laughter and connection on May 17. Held at the Theatre on the Square, three comedians: Dillan Oliphant, Nina Hastie and Suhayl Essa, took the stage with actor Kope ‘Tswyza’ Makgae for a joke battle session.

Makgae, who was the MC of the event. wasted no time in making people laugh, shared important house rules before introducing the main acts. The joke sessions offered audiences three rounds of chosen topic in which the comedians had to make jokes from through conversations.

With simple topics that ranged from music genres to weddings, all comedians managed to craft their best lines which left people gasping for air.

“KitKat is a brand that is over 100 years old and it has been a brand that has stood for taking a break. The purpose of the brand has always been about a smile in your break and that is why we partnered with comedy to send a message to South Africans to take a break,” said Janet Berg, marketing manager for Nestlé Confectionery.

“I would define a break as something that one needs to take. Your mind needs to relax and digest good moments and memories and that’s what happened today,” concluded participant Kamogelo Moichela.
