Jean hopes to win the 2022 Dodgeball African Cup
Jean Michau who plays for the Dodge Styles at the Sandton Action Sports Arena hopes to lift the 2022 Dodgeball African Cup with his team once the tournament concludes on July 17.
What started out as a social activity with close friends quickly transformed into something deeper, a passion led by being the best dodgeball player in Africa.
Sandton resident Jean Michau, who has been involved with dodgeball at the Sandton Action Sports Arena for more than four years, has finally been given his flowers of recognition as he will be participating in the 2022 Dodgeball African Cup.
His journey started with a mere bonding session with friends. “In the beginning it was mainly about having fun with people playing the sport. Don’t get me wrong, it still is, but now it shifted more to me being a great player and also having that element of having fun.”

He successfully led his team [The Dodgefathers] to first-place victory late last year, as well as in the 2022 winter season at the Sandton Action Sports facility, after the team made a drastic decision to change their names to Dodge Style.
Michau shared some of his wisdom on how be the ultimate dodgeball player. “Rather than only mastering one thing, a complete dodgeball player has to be able to master all skill – throwing, catching, dodging and also being able to read the game.”
With only days away from competing in the Dodgeball African Cup that will be hosted at Somerset West in the Western Cape from July 15 to 17, Michau stated that he is looking forward to playing with and against the greats of Africa. Michau will make his way to the Western Cape with a few teammates from Gauteng on July 14.
