‘Fill up’ the Imperial Wanderers Stadium this Mandela Day

Help Lions Cricket and Ashraful Aid ‘fill up’ the Imperial Wanderers Stadium on July 18 by purchasing a virtual ticket that will go towards donating a one-week food and hygiene hamper to a family of four.

This Mandela Day (July 18), the Lions Cricket family and humanitarian organisation Ashraful Aid are calling on the community to Fill Up The Stands and Feed The Needy.

Throughout July, the call-to-action campaign aims to ‘fill up’ the Imperial Wanderers Stadium in Illovo with food and hygiene hampers that will benefit 32 000 families in need.

According to Lions Cricket head of marketing, commercial and communications, Wanele Mngomezulu, members of the community can support the initiative by purchasing a virtual ticket via TicketPro at a cost of R120 per seat. “[The ticket cost] will be used to purchase a one-week food and hygiene hamper for a family of four.”

Mngomezulu added that the initiative is also appealing to corporates who can purchase a R10 000 virtual suite, resulting in one week of relief for 80 families.

“In an odd turn of events, we’re hoping to have an ‘empty’ yet sold-out 32 000-seater stadium that will provide 144 000 family members some much-needed relief during winter.
