‘Rhythmic drumming runs through the school’s veins’ says Graeme
Southern Cross Schools are well known for their amazing djembe drumming performance and blessed the Bryanston organic market with their beats.
The Southern Cross School djembe drummers from Hoedspruit charmed Bryanston organic market patrons with their beautiful African drumming.
The African djembe drum resonates with tradition and is at the heart of many ceremonies and celebrations.

Graeme Wuth, drumming coordinator and English teacher at Southern Cross School said he is proud of the learners and looks forward to more tours.
“The whole squad has been working hard since last year. I am proud and grateful that we were able to come to our first Johannesburg tour.”

He explains that the school’s drummers earned their reputation by performing at many functions and events.
“At the annual music eisteddfods in Tzaneen and Hoedspruit, they wow the crowd every year and walk away with top results.”

They perform at lodges, weddings, markets, parties, morning teas and festivals.
“As we embark on our first tour of Johannesburg, we are excited and confident to share our beat beyond the bush with all the residents here.”
