International Women’s Club welcomes all women
The International Women’s Club celebrates their year-end in style.
The Johannesburg chapter of the International Women’s Club (IWC) celebrated their year-end in style with a stylish lunch hosted at the Bryanston Country Club on November 21.

The club welcomes women from all over the world and offers them inclusion and fellowship in northern Johannesburg.

“Our members are a mix of local South Africans, and many who are from various parts of the world living as expats in South Africa,” IWC president Joanne Conrad explained. “We have a range of activities for the ladies: travel club, bridge, mahjong, book clubs, the lunch bunch.”

Club member Veronica Goulding shared how she came to be a member of the club.

“I was on my own, I had retired, then I was asked to join here,” Goulding said. “You have those whose husbands come out on a contract, and the ladies have nothing to do. So, they can come here, and join in.”

Born in the far-east city of Vladivostok, Elena Alexandra, an economist, praised the club for making South Africa feel like home to her.

“[I have] met absolutely amazing people,” Alexandra said. “IWC is an amazing community of wonderful ladies who make me feel welcome to their social circles; and spreading horizons, and my wings to fly in Johannesburg.”
