Sports day at Varsity College Sandton brings perspective

Connecting outside lecture rooms provides an avenue for applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Education extends beyond the confines of lecture rooms, textbooks, and examinations.

While formal education is crucial, the true essence of learning lies in the ability to connect with the world outside the academic walls.

The IIE Varsity College Sandton hosted their orientation week activities.

According to communications person Anto Kagisho at Varsity College Sandton, the sports day highlighted the sporting codes on offer through the campus sports clubs.

“These included 5-a-side football, netball, basketball, volleyball, and e-sports. The sports clubs, which include national sports, campus team sports, sports life, and sports lifestyle clubs, cater for the semi-professional, social athlete, team player, or individual sportsperson.”

Naledi Musa Nxumalo, a first-year student at Sandton College, said, “I enjoyed interacting with the students who attended the O’Week Sports Day while playing netball.”

Nxumalo added that engaging with the sports administrators was informative, as she found out what would be expected of her as a player.

“Lindi Mqweba, coach of the VC Sabres netball team, gave me some tips on how to make it through, and I am now determined to get onto the netball team. I made new friends, not only on my campus but from others as well, during the day at the Mzanizi Happy Island Theme Park. I am excited about my tertiary journey with The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton.”
