Local cricket players unwind with a friendly game

In a world often characterised by hustle and bustle, these moments of simple pleasure serve as reminders of the enduring power of sport to uplift spirits and unite hearts.

Cricket enthusiasts gathered for a delightful day of sportsmanship and camaraderie at the Grayston Preparatory School grounds on April 14.

The games were between the Zoo Lake Cricket Academy and the Cover Driver Cricket Academy.

According to Cover Drive head coach Sydwell Ndlovu, as the first batsman stepped up to the crease, a hush fell over the field.

“All eyes were on him as he gripped the bat tightly, ready to face the bowler. With a determined look on his face, he took his stance, and the bowler began his run-up.”

He added that cheers erupted from his teammates as the ball sailed over the boundary line, scoring the first six of the matches.

“With each delivery, the players sprang into action, diving and leaping to stop the ball and prevent runs. Their enthusiasm was infectious as they cheered each other on, celebrating every catch and wicket with high-fives and fist bumps.”
