Cook-off and fashion show for moms in Gallo Manor
Mothers’ day in Gallo Manor celebrated with a cook-off and fashion show.
Gallo Manor resident Naledi Ncube won an exciting 10-minute cook-off duel held at the Morning Glenn Mall on May 12.
The community retailer celebrated the community’s moms through the cooking competition, which culminated in an exciting fashion show exhibiting women’s clothing from some of the mall’s tenants.
Ncube and her competitor, Macheba Mabetwa, were volunteers who opted to answer the open challenge towards finding out which of the two could whip up a competition-winning plate within the allocated time.
The two women were supplied with ingredients sponsored by mall tenants.
Mall manager Karen Terrell-Kramvis said that the event was a culmination of the entire mall community working together to celebrate the mothers within the Gallo Manor and Wendywood communities.
Terrell-Kramvis emphasised the important roles played by mothers within their families and praised the mall community’s effort to honour the creators of our universe: moms.
“We wanted to celebrate the mothers within our community; not just our shoppers, but our staff as well: our teams of moms who look after our people every single day behind the scenes,” Terrel-Kramvis said. “Moms are awesome. We wanted to do something special, so we thought we would host a little cook-off, as a lot of moms are really talented in the kitchen. We are going to be seeing who makes the best omelette.”
Both Ncube and Mabetwa successfully prepared beautiful omelette dishes in the allocated time. These were judged by Billy van Zyle, Liz Jacobs and Louisa Fourie.
The lively event – emceed by the multitalented Reitumetse Dikola – closed with an electrifying performance by national treasure Nomcebo Zikode.
