Bryanston resident demands action from City Power

According to Wendy Davidson, it is time for City Power to take responsibility and maintain the environment around their facilities.

A resident of Bryanston, Wendy Davidson, expressed her frustration over the perceived neglect by City Power in maintaining the environment surrounding the substation at 20 Highland Avenue.

Davidson, a longtime resident of Bryanston at Highland Avenue said, “It’s disheartening to see the state of the substation area.
“The grass is overgrown, and there are dry leaves everywhere. It feels like City Power has forgotten about us. We pay our rates and taxes, yet this is the service we receive.”
Davidson pointed out that the unkempt vegetation could pose a significant risk, especially as the dry season approaches.

“Dry grass and bushes near electrical equipment are a fire hazard. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about safety. What if a fire starts? It could easily spread to our homes.”

She added she had reported the issue to Ward 104 councillor Emi Koekemoer.

“Emi has reached out to City Power numerous times but all she gets are empty promises. The situation has been the same for five years now.”

City Power spokesperson Issac Mangena was asked for comment on May 17 but by the time of print, he had not responded.
