Morningside’s Isabella Petersen’s gymnastics success begins
Isabella Petersen, a dedicated young gymnast from Redhill School, shares her excitement and goals as she prepares to compete in Cape Town.
Redhill School is proud to announce that Grade 8 learner, Isabella Petersen, has been selected to represent the Gauteng Gymnastics Association at a prestigious competition in Cape Town later in September.
Isabella earned her spot after competing in a challenging gymnastics competition during the August holidays, where her dedication and countless hours of training paid off.
Reflecting on her achievement Isabella said, “I felt overjoyed and a sense of pride knowing that all my hard work had paid off.”
However, the journey was not without its challenges.

“The most difficult part was not letting myself get demotivated by a low score on a particular apparatus.”
Training for such a high level of competition demands immense commitment. Isabella trains an average of 10 hours per week leading up to major competitions, refining her skills to perfect her routines.
Her motivation stems from a deep love for the sport and her long-term dream.

“I enjoy learning new skills and pushing myself to the limit. Knowing that I could represent South Africa in the Olympics one day has kept my passion alive.”
Balancing schoolwork and training is another aspect of Isabella’s life.
“I have to be organised in planning my weeks and diligent in sticking to my plans, which ensures I don’t get overwhelmed.”
As Isabella heads to Cape Town, her goal is simple: “To do my best and medal on every apparatus.”
She credits her parents and coaches at Paragon Gymnastics for being her biggest supporters throughout her gymnastics journey.
With her talent, determination, and support system, Redhill School wishes Isabella all the best in her upcoming competition and for the bright future ahead.
