Johannesburg residents urged to brace for chilly weather

Get ready to bundle up as a cold snap is expected to hit Johannesburg this Wednesday bringing down temperatures for the rest of the week.

A cold front is expected to sweep through Johannesburg this Wednesday, bringing with it a significant drop in temperature.

According to the South African Weather Service, while some parts of the country may experience light snowfall, Johannesburg residents will only feel the effects of the cold snap from Wednesday, where temperatures are forecast to fall to a chilly maximum of 13°C.

The cold spell is expected to last the rest of the week.

Temperature forecast

  • Wednesday (May 21): Minimum of 2°C and a high of 13°C
  • Thursday (May 22): Minimum of 4°C and a high of 17°C
  • Friday (May 23): Minimum of 5°C and a high of 18°C
