Want speed humps your area? Here’s how to request them
The Johannesburg Road Agency regional operations manager Khayalethu Gqibitole, shares the essential steps residents need to follow on the city’s online platform to request traffic calming measures like speed humps.
Before the Johannesburg Road Agency can allocate funding for installing speed humps or other traffic calming measures, residents are required to log a petition through the city’s online platform, the E-petition portal on www.joburg.org.za.
JRA regional operations manager Khayalethu Gqibitole said, “This is a mandatory step, ensuring that all requests are officially recorded and assessed.”

Once the petition is logged, the JRA will undertake safety investigations and prepare a report.
“This report will then be submitted for approval by the City of Johannesburg’s Petition Steering Committee.”
“This process allows us to evaluate the safety concern comprehensively and allocate resources effectively,” Gqibitole said.
“Your safety is our priority, and together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.”
