Little hands and big hearts at Nurture and Nature Montessori Sandton

Laughter, learning, and love lit up Nurture and Nature Montessori Sandton on July 18, as children from Growing Seeds Preschool in Berea joined hands with new friends in a joyful celebration of Mandela Day, proving that even the smallest hearts can inspire the greatest change.

The grounds of Nurture and Nature Montessori Sandton came alive with the cheerful sounds of play, music, and heartfelt connection, as they celebrated Mandela Day with special guests from Growing Seeds Preschool in Berea on July 18.

The day was not designed just to mark a moment on the calendar, but to embody the spirit of ubuntu, the belief in a shared humanity that Mandela so passionately championed.

For many of the visiting children, it was their first time stepping into a structured early learning environment, and the warm welcome they received set the tone for a day filled with joyful discovery.

Children painted together, sang songs, listened to animated storytelling, and built new friendships, all under the watchful care of passionate educators who understand that true learning begins with love and acceptance.

What unfolded was more than just a fun day; it was a living tribute to Nelson Mandela’s vision of a world where dignity and kindness are extended to all, especially the youngest among us.
Nurture and Nature’s marketing and admissions officer Stephanie Mundell said: “Seeing our children engaging so naturally and compassionately with the children from Growing Seeds Preschool was incredibly moving.

“It reminded us that the values of empathy, generosity, and inclusion can be nurtured from a very young age, and that this generation has the potential to build the world Mandela dreamed of.”

The event wasn’t just an act of outreach; it was a celebration of equality, opportunity, and the unbreakable bond between childhood and hope.

Mondell added: “As Mandela said: ‘There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children’.

“At Nurture and Nature, we strive to honour that sentiment, not only on Mandela Day, but every day, by cultivating environments where every child feels seen, safe, and inspired.

“Let this day serve as a gentle, but powerful, reminder that Mandela Day is more than a date. It is a way of life, a call to serve, to uplift, and to believe in the transformational power of love, especially when placed in the smallest hands.”
