Sandton Rotarians make ‘Service above Self’ a reality
From empowering youth and supporting vulnerable communities to championing environmental stewardship, the Rotary Club of Sandton celebrates a year defined by compassion, collaboration, and meaningful service.
As 2025 draws to a close, the Rotary Club of Sandton stands proud of a year marked by heartfelt service, community partnership, and unwavering commitment to Rotary’s enduring motto: Service above Self.
In a message to members and community partners, President Paul Harvey celebrates the club’s collective impact across a series of transformative initiatives.

Celebrating milestones of service
1. Rotary Fun Day with Special Olympics South Africa, Randburg Mets, and Woolworths
One of the year’s most memorable highlights was the Rotary Fun Day, an uplifting celebration of inclusivity and ability. Over 100 local Special Olympics athletes participated in a day filled with encouragement, joy, and community spirit.
2. Annual Blanket Drive
Thanks to overwhelming generosity from members and partners, the club raised more than R80 000, distributing over 850 blankets to those most affected by the winter cold.
3. LIV Lanseria Ithuteng After Care Centre
Demonstrating commitment to education and youth development, the Rotary Club funded and completed the refurbishment of two large classrooms serving children from the Diepsloot community, creating safe, functional, and inspiring learning spaces.
4. Youth empowerment through creativity and exchange
The club’s Poetry Competition once again showcased the vibrant voices of local youth, offering a platform for creativity and personal expression.
Additionally, the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme saw one student embark on a life-changing journey to Germany while the club welcomed a student from France, fostering global connections and leadership development.

5. Environmental stewardship with Spruit Gardens
In partnership with Gail Williams and the Spruit Gardens team, the club continued its dedicated programme of river clean-ups throughout the year.
Harvey extended his heartfelt appreciation to every member, volunteer, and partner whose contributions brought these achievements to life. “None of these accomplishments would have been possible without your dedication, passion, and generosity. You are the reason we can continue to create lasting change.”
With renewed purpose and strengthened community bonds, the Rotary Club of Sandton enters the new year poised for even greater impact.
