Ifa crafted brings rural KZN heritage to Sandton

Art lovers and collectors gathered in Sandton to celebrate the unveiling of the ifa crafted heritage collection honouring rural KZN artisans.

Locals, art enthusiasts, collectors, creatives and supporters of heritage craft gathered at 8 Merchant Place in Sandton for the unveiling of the ifa crafted heritage collection.

The special exhibition hosted by the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts (KZNSA) in partnership with the First Rand Foundation on the evening of February 12, brought together about 150 guests who came to honour the extraordinary skill and cultural legacy of rural KZN’s master crafters.

Ifa, meaning ‘inheritance’, embodies the concepts of indlalifa, those entrusted with passing down the legacy and ukuloba ngezandla (thinking with hands).

The event provided guests with an opportunity to engage directly with the artisans and their work.

While celebrating the ifa crafted mission to connect traditional craftsmanship with contemporary markets, and also generating sustainable income for rural communities.
