Young people are being encouraged to work hard, remain disciplined, and believe in their ability to build successful futures, according to Sandton-based entrepreneur Dr Danny Tong.
Tong, the founder and chairman of InvesTong Group, said perseverance and long-term thinking are essential for anyone hoping to succeed in business or any career.

He explained that for more than two decades, he has grown a small entrepreneurial venture into a diversified investment group operating across infrastructure, construction, property, mining, and energy sectors. The company now employs more than 1 100 people and continues to expand its footprint across Southern Africa.
But Tong said success did not happen overnight.
“Every successful journey begins with small steps, hard work, and the willingness to learn from failure.” He believes many young people underestimate the power of consistency and discipline when building a career.
“Young people must understand that success is not instant. It requires patience, resilience, and the courage to keep going even when things are difficult.” Tong said entrepreneurship also carries a responsibility to uplift communities and create opportunities for others.

“When businesses grow, they must create jobs, empower communities, and open doors for the next generation.”
Through his business initiatives and mentorship efforts, Tong hopes to inspire young South Africans to think bigger about their future and believe that they can build lasting enterprises.
“Africa’s future will be shaped by young people who are willing to work hard, think long-term, and build institutions that last.”
Tong added that determination, discipline, and a strong work ethic remain the most important tools for anyone hoping to turn their dreams into reality. “If you stay focused, keep learning, and never give up, the opportunities will come,” he concluded.
