Road restrictions expected in Melrose and Rosebank tomorrow for corporate challenge run
Motorists and residents near the Wanderers Club should expect traffic disruptions on March 12, as thousands of runners take part in the JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge Johannesburg.
Residents and Commuters in Melrose, Birdhaven and Rosebank are urged to plan their movements carefully on Thursday, March 12, as temporary road restrictions will be implemented for the JPMorganChase Corporate Challenge Johannesburg.
The annual 5.6km race to be hosted at the Wanderers Club is scheduled to take place from 18:30 to 20:00, bringing together thousands of participants from companies across the city.
Temporary road restrictions will start as early as 08:00 and remain in effect until 20:00 in the Rosebank, Melrose and Birdhaven precincts. Traffic marshals and police officials will manage all key intersections along the race route.

Organisers said the temporary road restrictions aim to prevent parking that could obstruct the running route and inconvenience residents, as well as restrict participants from driving through Melrose, Birdhaven, Melrose North, Melrose Estate and Melrose Arch en route to the Wanderers Club.
Tips for avoiding delays on race day
- Access will not be permitted during the listed road restriction times, except in emergencies.
- Â Residents may access roads between 15:00 and 17:00,
- It is recommended that residents utilise roads adjacent to Oxford Road and Glenhove Road for access.
- Avoid using North Street during this period,
- Expect significant traffic congestion on race day, plan to arrive early, use designated parking venues, consider carpooling, and use a rideshare app such as Uber.
- For rideshare app users, please use the designated drop-off points.

Traffic marshals, traffic officials and security personnel will be stationed at the barricaded entrance to allow access to residents going home upon verification.
