Mamma Mia! extends Johannesburg run at Montecasino to November 29
ABBA hits, colourful costumes and feel-good fun! Mamma Mia has returned to Fourways, bringing musical magic to the stage once again.
ABBA fans can look forward to another week of music, laughter and nostalgia as Mamma Mia! extends its run at Montecasino’s Teatro to November 29.
The award-winning musical opened at the venue on October 16, following a successful four-week season at Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre Centre. According to the show’s producers, Showtime Management, strong audience demand prompted the extension. The production has received positive reviews, with audiences praising its cast, energetic performances and much-loved ABBA hits. Some performances have ended with standing ovations lasting more than 10 minutes.
Stage & Screen described the show as ‘a vibrant South African production that breathes fresh life into the beloved ABBA musical’, while Netwerk24 called it ‘sexy, speelse’.
The all-South African cast is led by Broadway star Amra-Faye Wright as Donna Sheridan, alongside Samantha Peo as Tanya and Lindy Abromowitz Sachs as Rosie. Leah Mari plays Sophie, a bride-to-be searching for her father ahead of her wedding to Sky, played by Jock Kleynhans. Paul du Toit, Tiaan Rautenbach and Matt Newman portray the three potential fathers, while Michelle Juncker stars as Lisa and Angelica Hattingh as Ali.
Blending friendship, romance and comedy with ABBA’s timeless songs, Mamma Mia! follows a story that continues to appeal to audiences across generations.
The extended run gives Johannesburg theatre-goers another opportunity to experience the production, whether they are long-standing fans of the musical or discovering it for the first time.
