High-speed chase – Police arrest three robbers at the N3 and Malboro intersection

The Johannesburg District Commissioner, Major General Max Masha, applauded members for their outstanding work.

Motorists were left wondering what was happening on the N3 South and Marlboro Drive on the afternoon of June 7.

Heavy traffic was experienced on the road due to an active crime scene- which led to both sides of the N3 being impacted as law enforcement was busy searching for suspects.

Following the swift response by police and local security, which led to the apprehension of three suspects on the N3 and Malboro intersection after a house robbery in Faerie Glen, east of Pretoria, motorists couldn’t move on the road during the police search.

Captain Jeff Phora, Head of Corporate Communications at SAPS Johannesburg District, said, “Preliminary police investigation indicates that the incident involved five suspects who were allegedly implicated in a house robbery in the Garsfontein policing precinct.”

He added that during the arrest of the three suspects, aged between 40 and 50, police recovered a stolen white BMW 3 series (used as a getaway vehicle), several rounds of ammunition, laptops, a tablet, an Xbox, and cellphones.

“A neighbour who witnessed the incident was allegedly shot in the knee by suspects as they fled the scene.”

Phora added that all three suspects are expected to appear before the Hatfield Magistrate’s Court facing charges of house robbery, attempted murder, possession of the suspected stolen property, possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and possession of the stolen vehicle.
