Women of Wonder take the podium
Women of Wonder and Panache promotions and events hosted another successful Women of Wonder award ceremony at the Maslow hotel in Sandton.
Sandton’s Maslow Hotel served as the grand venue for the ninth Women of Wonder award ceremony hosted by Panache promotions and events on August 5.
The prestigious awards were held in recognition of women who go beyond the call of duty in pursuit of their goal to empower individuals and their communities in impactful ways.
CEO of the awards, Yaseen Valli said, “Women of Wonder is a brand that was founded about nine years ago. We started very humbly in Lenasia and we’ve grown to be representative in eight countries worldwide. The actual brand is to acknowledge women who have achieved beyond themselves. We just feel that women are not acknowledged enough.”
Mpho Mogotsi was one of the women who was acknowledged for her work as a philanthropist and businesswoman.
“This year I happen to be one of the recipients of the award,” Mogotsi said. “I’m feeling so happy, so confident of the work that I’m doing, that it’s speaking volumes. Being recognised as one of the recipients simply means that my philanthropy and my humanitarian work are being recognised. I am being recognised as someone who has been impactful, and that’s exactly what I have set myself to become.”
The ceremony recognised 32 women including four whose consistency got them renominated.
Online talk show host Mumtaz Essa was another of the honoured recipients at the event.
“I interview up-and-coming businesses and entrepreneurs on my online platforms, and I’m honoured tonight to be a recipient of a Women of Wonder award,” Essa said. “Very soon I’m going to be on stage providing seminars for e-commerce as well because I’m the director of an ICT company.”
*In a previous version of this article it stated in the main image caption, “Farzana Mayet, founder and CEO at Panache Promotions and Events was the first woman to receive a Women of Wonder award nine years ago.” This is in fact incorrect, Mayet has not been a recipient of the Women of Wonder Awards. This newspaper apologises to Mayet and her organisation. A print apology will appear in the next edition of the Sandton Chronicle (Week ending August 23, 2023).
