Sandton’s first October Market

Parkmore and Sandton locals enjoy a day at the market.

The Sandton Sports Club and Milk Bar hosted their Spring Day Market on October 1. The market allowed Parkmore and Sandton locals to unwind, and ease their way into the new month with some light, quality retail therapy.

There was an assortment of garments, jewellery, sweets, and homemade condiments on offer from some passionate stall keepers.

“It was a collaboration with the club and the restaurant to encourage the community around Parkmore and neighbouring suburbs to come and have their family day out in the sun,” said Treasured Times Markets’s representative Ginny Osborne. “It happens every two months, more or less; very often around milestones. So you’ll start in February around Valentine’s Day; then you have April for Easter; you’ll have Christmas in July; this is the Spring Market; and we’ll end off the year with a Christmas market in December.”

According to Osborne, the market is, in part, a means of providing a forum for vendors to be able to sell their local products – and provide local entrepreneurs the platform to make their successful sales.

“There’s been a real boom in the market industry; you can see the enthusiasm of those that are wanting to grow their small businesses,” Osborne said. “It’s just wonderful to provide a very happy platform with a great vibe that allows people to come and enjoy their Sunday.”
