JRA finally begins repairs to Coleraine Drive in Riverclub
Residents of 16 Coleraine Drive in Riverclub can finally expect safer travel as Johannesburg Roads Agency initiates much-anticipated repairs on the damaged road surface, following delays due to weather conditions.

Residents of Coleraine Drive in Riverclub can finally breathe a sigh of relief as Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has confirmed that repair work, which was scheduled to begin on February 24 on the compromised road surface, has commenced.
JRA HOD for regional operations Khayalethu Gqibitole said the repairs were postponed due to inclement weather conditions which hindered work on the road. “Assessments were conducted and reinstatement work is in progress. Delays were caused by persistent inclement weather conditions, making it difficult to work on the road surface.”

JRA’s proactive approach comes in response to growing concerns expressed by residents following previous repairs conducted by Johannesburg Water, which filled a dangerous hole caused by a burst pipe.

Many residents worried about the underlying asphalt’s compromised condition, and potential road collapse amid continuous rainfall.
Residents had previously voiced their fears regarding the safety of the road. Lynne Fiser, a concerned local, reiterated her anxieties about the surface’s integrity despite temporary measures. She emphasised that while the hole was filled, a long-term solution is crucial, as erosion, during storms, could still spell disaster.

Gqibitole assured residents that JRA is committed to restoring road safety. “We understand the concerns of the community and appreciate their patience. Our teams are now on-site to ensure permanent repairs are completed. We will keep residents informed as we move forward.”
