Water woes for River Club and Moodie Hill
Frustration is boiling over in River Club, where residents have been without water for seven days, and they are demanding answers from Johannesburg Water.
Parts of Sandton, including River Club and Moodie Hill, have been without water for seven days due to a pipe burst on Coleraine Drive, and residents say they have had enough.
The prolonged outage has been worsened by repair delays, poor communication from Johannesburg Water (JW), and what locals describe as an inadequate supply of water tankers.
Residents’ frustration was compounded when repair work severed the area’s fibre network on July 2, leaving many without internet for three days.

Ward 103 councillor Lynda Shackleford said residents feel abandoned. “A crisis of this scale, in one of Johannesburg’s most developed suburbs, should not take a week or more, to resolve. People are tired of generic updates that don’t help them plan their lives.”
She pointed out that, just last week, the same community suffered a five-day outage linked to a major burst in Linbro Park. “Once the water is restored, JW owes residents a full explanation of what went wrong, and how they plan to prevent this happening again.”
