Art, friendship, and growth at Morning Glen
What started with one painting has grown into a full exhibition built on friendship and shared creativity.
Rooted in Connection, an exhibition that was recently shown at Art@OTG Bar and Kitchen at Morning Glen Mall, brought together mosaic sculptor Claudia Raff and mixed media artist Natalie Hodgson.
Their journey began when Raff bought one of Hodgson’s paintings.
“That is how we started our relationship. So that rooted in connection is very real for us.”
Hodgson has a background in fine art, graphic design, and interior decorating, and she said all three shape her work.

“When you are looking at my art, you will see all of those elements coming into my work. I wouldn’t say I conventionally approach my work. I love using spray paint, mixed media, anything that helps me achieve the vision in my head.” Raff, who works mainly in mosaics, creates sculptures made from hundreds of tiny pieces placed one by one.
“I have always loved working with my hands. Each piece has hundreds of tiny mosaics. Not everyone has that kind of patience.” Her featured work, Twisted in Time, is a female torso that explores reflection and growth.
“It’s about looking back at the past and forward to the future. We are always in this twist of time, but we have to remember to stay present,” Raff explained. Both artists say life experience shapes their art.
“If an artist is going through something emotional, you will see it. It comes through in the work,” Hodgson said.
