Residents endure days without power in Bramley North
A vehicle crashing into an electricity pole left Bramley North residents without electricity for days, forcing some to rely on daily trips to charge their devices while City Power worked to restore supply.
Residents of Bramley North have expressed frustration after a prolonged power outage left some households without electricity for nearly a week.
Ward 91 councillor Andrew Stewart said lengthy outages and poor communication from City Power have become a growing concern, with some repairs taking several days to complete.

Resident Sam Tau described the impact the outage had on his household.
“It started on Sunday, just after 16:00. From then, we have never had electricity. I’ve had to charge my power bank in Alexandra every day.
I go there in the morning and collect it in the afternoon. I’ve also bought six or eight bags of ice just to keep food cold in the fridge.”
City Power confirmed that the outage was caused when a vehicle crashed into an electricity pole on Beryl Street, bringing down overhead electricity conductors.

The utility said power was restored to most affected customers on July 17, after the damaged pole and conductors were replaced.
However, two households remained without supply after damaged service cables were discovered.
City Power said repairs were delayed because its specialised cable testing team was attending to other faults before being scheduled to investigate the remaining cable faults on July 21.
The utility said it is working to improve response times, despite high call volumes and limited specialist resources.
It added that recurring outages are often linked to cable theft and vandalism, and that additional security patrols and partnerships with law enforcement are being used to better protect electricity infrastructure.
City Power also said it provides regular outage updates through its social media platforms, WhatsApp channels, and councillor groups to keep residents informed during prolonged outages.
