Cover Drive takes victory at the Black Widow tournament
As they get ready for the most significant summer tournaments that are coming up, the Cover Drive Cricket learners continue to improve their performances.
Cover Drive Cricket School had a busy weekend, playing two games in a Black Widow tournament.
According to the school’s coach, Sydwell Ndlovu, the games were hectic, but the boys managed to pull through with a win and the team now shows improvement in most of the aspects of the games.
We are still preparing for the summer league tournaments, and the Black Widow tournament is to see how our players are.”
He laid out how the game unfolded by stating that in their first game, Cover Drive batted against Midrand CC and posted 208/3 wickets.
“Miller de Bruyn, the captain for the day, led from the front, scoring 100 runs out of 53 balls; Pieta Bester scored 33 runs off 32 balls; and Schalk Van Zyl scored 27 runs off 29 balls.”
He added that this made Miller the top performer for the day.
“In response, Midrand scored 166/4 wickets, and Kahil Naicker was the top performer for their team, scoring 50 off 33 balls.”
Ndlovu added that Cover Drive won by 42 runs in the first game.
“In the second game, we batted first again and scored 152/7 wickets; Reinhardt Van Jaarsveld top-scored with 25 runs off 21 balls and Schalk Van Zyl 23 of 25 balls.”
The coach concluded and highlighted that the team won the match by 96 runs.
