Ballyclare Drive leak stirs protest

Pooling at the intersection of Ballyclare Drive and St Audley Road in the pristine Sandton area of Bryanston has caused the erosion of the surface of the road.

THE pothole-surfaced road at the intersection of Ballyclare Drive and St Audley Road in Bryanston has raised concerns from local motorists.

Ward 103 councillor Vincent Earp said he believed the potholes were caused by water damage incurred by a faulty storm water drain system up the road.
“The water runs down and pools at the bottom of the road,” he said.

He said council had been out to patch the road on numerous occasions but that its workers needed to get to the source of the problem which is the stormwater drain.
“The potholes aren’t visible at night and can be potentially damaging to car tyres and dangerous to motorists,” he said.

Patrick Mampa, assistant manager of operations Region E for the Johannesburg Roads Agency, said the department would be coming out to fix the potholes as a matter of urgency and would continue to do so until the storm water drainage system had been fixed by the relevant department of the agency.
