BOIPATONG – Residents of Lusaka were left shocked after a 23-year-old man was found hanging from an electricity pylon on September 26.

Dozens of bystanders watched as police combed the scene after medics declared the man dead at the scene.

Following the investigation, forensic pathologists collected the body of the deceased and delivered it to Sebokeng mortuary.

According to reports, the gruesome discovery was made at about 06:20 near house 3730 in Lusaka 2.

In a statement to Ster following a media inquiry, police spokesperson Sergeant Matebello Tlokolo said Boipatong police received a telephonic complaint from an anonymous caller reporting that a man was hanging from the pylon.

Police were dispatched to the scene and found the man wearing a black jacket, red top, black pants and black-and-pink takkies.

Tlokolo confirmed that emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and declared the man dead.

Tlokolo said an identity document was found in his possession, and detectives are working around the clock to trace his family.

An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, and investigations are continuing.
