SHARPEVILLE. – The Department of Education Sedibeng East District Director Dorah Moloi has condemned the actions of the armed robbers who recently made away with an undisclosed amount of tablets and smartboards at Mahareng Secondary School in Tshepiso.
This happened only a few days after the equipment was delivered to the school. Moloi says, “This is a big loss for us as it may affect the marks of learners. The equipment has been provided to the school to enhance the quality of education that learners receive and to also help educators with research. We must applaud MEC Panyaza Lesufi for this project which is aimed at improving the standard of learning whereby learners are able to see exactly what is spoken about.
Moloi further states that the equipment makes learning exciting, fun and revolutionises the old concept of learning.According to one of the security guards at the school, a group of armed robbers arrived at the school in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They demanded the cellphones of the security guard and some of his colleagues who were with him in one of the classrooms. “They knocked on the door and when we refused to open they kicked the door down. That was when they searched us and tied us up with shoe laces. They also told us to cover our faces.”
Moloi urges the community in its entirety to be vigillant and let the police know about matters of this nature that are taking place at schools.
