A man in his 30s was killed earlier today (14-4-2016) and five others injured after a bakkie rolled off the N1 highway near the Randfontein Off-ramp in Vanderbijlpark. Russel Meiring,
ER24 Spokesperson, says paramedics arrived on the scene shortly before 07h40 this morning to find a bakkie lying some distance off the road. Occupants from the bakkie were found lying all around the scene.
On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying next to the road. The man had apparently been ejected off the back of the bakkie. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on scene. Five other patients, including the driver, were found on the scene with various injuries. The driver was critically injured. Paramedics treated the patients and provided the driver with advanced life support. Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment. It is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple times and ejecting the patients. Local authorities were on scene for further investigantions.
