Consumers are prohibited from watering/ sprinkling lawns, gardens, trees and vegetation between 6am and 6pm, using hosepipes to wash vehicles, driveways,sidewalks and buildings including filling up their swimming pools.

All domestic consumers will be liable for a fine not exceeding R4000 or imprisonment to a period of four months. A  continued offence will result in a fine of R2000 every day.

Commercial customers will also be liable to pay a fine not exceeding R40000 and in the event  of a continued event of a continued event, a further fine of R20000 for every day will be charged.
