Stop wasting money hiring Red Ants: EXT 15 residents

The residents of Extension 15 near Sonderwater vowed to continue occupying any open piece of land they come across recently.

SEBOKENG. – The residents of Extension 15 near Sonderwater vowed to continue occupying any open piece of land they come across recently.About 150 community members recently waited patiently on the road between Extension 15 and Randfontein ‘to fight the Red Ants’.

This comes after it was rumoured that the Red Ants were on their way to demolish their shacks. One of the community members, Granny Chabalala, said that they waited patiently with stones and tyres next to the road:“We are tired of the Red Ants taking items we have worked hard to acquire.

“We are not going to retreat or surrender.” Noise Masuelle and Madimabe Seisa, leaders of the Concerned Residents Committee said, “ Lefatshe ke la Jehova, We are not going to be dictated to here.

“We have been frustrated by the local government.” Masuelle said government officials indicated that on record there are 229 spaces for houses in Extension 15 but that this was a pure lie. “As a community, we are aware of 928 spaces.

“We have long waited for the results of the audit report conducted in 2016 to date. The land we  allocate belongs to the government,“said Masuelle. He added that they are also still negotiating with the local and provincial department of housing. Stop sending the Red Ants to us. Instead, the same money should rather pay Rand Water and Eskom.”
