Boiketlong residents say they are being sold dreams

The community members alleged that the Mega Housing Project that is currently underway in the area was dividing the community and had been stagnant for a long time.

SEBOKENG. – “They have sold us dreams”, these are the words of angry Boiketlong Informal Settlement residents as they barricaded the Waterdal road this morning.

The residents said that they would not open the road until they were addressed by the Gauteng Premier, David Makhura.

They alleged that the Mega Housing Project that is currently underway in the area was dividing the community and had been stagnant for a long time.

“We want to tell the premier that we are tired of waiting for houses, what we want now if for the government to provide us with basic services and give us stands.”

The group said that they would not open the road until their issues had been heard.

The Boiketlong Mega Housing Project was launched in 2016  and promised mega city project with more than 12 thousand houses when completed.

The project is meant develop the area with housing, roads, electricity, sanitation, schools, clinics and shopping complexes.
