BEDWORTHPARK. – A fire razed a family home to the ground and left them with only the clothes on their backs.Even their identity documents and school uniforms were burnt to ashes. The incident happened on Monday on Chloe Avenue, Bedworthpark. The owner of the house, Cynthia Ndlovu (66) said that she was alone in the house at the time when she heard a loud bang. Assuming that the sound had come from the street, she went outside to investigate as she knew her grandchildren were playing in the street. Ndlovu said that she looked back only to see one of the rooms of her house already in flames. The fire apparently spread from room to room via the corridor and the ceiling. Neighbours called Emfuleni Fire and Rescue but by the time they arrived it was too late. The entire ten room house had been engulfed in flames. Ndlovu was unable to estimate the cost of the damage wrought at the time of going to print and the cause of the fire is not known.
Investigations continue.
