SEDIBENG.- Reflecting back ahead of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates’ much anticipated Soweto derby where these two South African football giants will clash in the Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) match at the FNB Stadium tomorrow. Sedibeng Ster veteran Sports Journalist, Zacharia Nale says, “In the early days teams like Moroka Swallows, Orlando Pirates and later Kaizer Chiefs won millions of supporters because of the way they played the game. Fans fell in love with them because firstly, these teams allowed entertainers to entertain and secondly, because winning was expected and delivered but it was done in a certain way.”
Nale says it was a way which made the community say, “Ahh, this club of mine represents me – it makes me proud. It express my passion, my joy and my dreams.”
This much anticipated encounter has always divided the country in two. The big question is which team will be victorious come tomorrow afternoon. Orlando Pirates go into this encounter as underdogs following their poor run in the league recently with their bitter rivals – Kaizer Chiefs enjoying a good run at the summit of the log. Amakhosi stunned Pirates when they beat them on penalties in the Telkom Knockout last Saturday, they also beat Chippa United 2-0 during the week while Orlando Pirates drew with Maritzburg United. It is now a payback time for Mighty Buccaneers as Orlando Pirates is popularly.
Who will take the three points home, you tell us.
